Board Opportunities

Are you interested in joining our Board of Directors?

Carpenter Hospice has been a vital part of the Burlington community for the last 20 years. Over 2,700 individuals have spent their final days in our care since we opened our doors in 2002. Since opening, our programs have expanded to include community-based programs for people living with a life-limiting illness and grief and bereavement programs for adults and children.

Our Burlington community is growing and aging. Hospice Palliative care is also changing – it is about supporting people right from the time of a life-limiting diagnosis to their final days. We know serving 200 residents and their families each year in hospice is not nearly enough.

We are creating a Centre of Community Care for Burlington residents to ensure we provide individuals living with a life-limiting illness and their families the care they need offering the right care at the right time and in the right place.

Our vision for the Centre is to offer more people more options for end-of-life care and grief and bereavement – whether in their own home or at the hospice.

We need you!

The Carpenter Hospice is governed by a community-member volunteer Board of Directors that give their time and talent to provide strategic guidance and oversight to the organization. To best reflect the community we serve, we are committed to establishing a qualified Board of Directors that embodies the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion.

To complement the existing Board of Directors’ background, the Board is currently seeking members from within our community who can provide perspective on the death and dying needs of our increasingly diverse community, in addition to having experience in one or more of the following profiles:

  • Governance: knowledge, understanding and experience in governance
  • Strategic Planning: experience with a not-for-profit or private organization
  • Family or close associate who has had experience with Carpenter Hospice

If you are interested in joining our Board, please submit a cover letter and resume package to the attention of our Governance Committee Chair by email to .
