Board Opportunities

Are you interested in joining our Board of Directors?

We need your help.

Carpenter Hospice has been vital to the Burlington community for more than 20 years. Over 3,000 individuals have spent their final days in our care since we first opened our doors in 2002. Our mission is to support people right from the moment of diagnosis of a life-limiting illness until their final days.

Our 11-bed hospice is staffed by a dedicated team of professionals and a wonderful community of volunteers who provide compassionate palliative care to meet residents’ every need and ensure that every moment matters.

Since opening, our programs have expanded to include a community-based approach led by our Community and Supportive Care team that provide much-needed spiritual and bereavement services, complementary therapies, music and art, and wellness programs for individuals living with a life-limiting illness as well as their families.

Carpenter Hospice is governed by a community-member volunteer Board of Directors that provides strategic guidance and oversight to the organization. To best reflect our community, we are committed to establishing a qualified Board of Directors that embodies the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion.

The Board is currently seeking members from within the Burlington community who are able to provide perspective on death and the needs of the dying in our increasingly diverse society, in addition to having experience in one or more of the following profiles:

  1. Fundraising: with connections to the Burlington business/philanthropic community
  2. Governance: knowledge, understanding and experience in governance
  3. Legal expertise (corporate/charity)
  4. Individuals with a background in Human Resources or Engineering
  5. Family or close associate who has had experience with Carpenter Hospice

If you are interested in joining our Board, please submit a cover letter and resume package to the attention of our Governance Committee Chair by email at

We are not actively recruiting at this time, but will keep your submission on file when future opportunities arise.
