Carpenter Hospice has been a vital part of the Burlington community for the last 16 years. Over 2,500 individuals have spent their final days in our care since we first opened our doors in 2002. Since opening, our programs have expanded to include community-based programs for people dealing with grief or a life-limiting illness. We are about to celebrate a milestone with the construction of a new resident care wing and renovation of our existing facility.

The Making Room Project will greatly enhance the services we provide to individuals in need of end-of-life care. Phase one will see the construction of new state-of-the-art resident rooms which will enhance comfort, access to the outdoors, and provide families with more private spaces. In phase two, we will re-purpose our existing structure to support our growing community outreach programs.

Carpenter Hospice will remain a residential hospice, with increased capacity to support the changing needs of our residents, families, and program participants. Carpenter Hospice will be, first and foremost, family-friendly and welcoming to everyone, inclusive to all faiths, reflecting a culture of respect and dignity. The building itself will be fully accessible and accommodate a range of abilities. The Hospice will remain home-like and non-institutional in its character while enabling the highest degree of safety, security and functionality.

Chamberlain Architect Service is the architectural company we have been working with this past year. Chamberlain will provide construction management services for the project and are overseeing contracts with service providers. Working with Chamberlain allows us to leverage in-kind and donated services from the community, reducing our overall costs of the project.

Capital Campaign – Coming Soon

The Renovation & Expansion has a total budget of $6 million. As a result of generous contributions from our donors over the last decade, Carpenter Hospice has over $3 million saved for the project. Carpenter Hospice is currently seeking contributions to cover the balance of $3 million.

2018 marks a pivotal year for us, as we look to the future of the Hospice in Burlington. Our message to our community and our past supporters is We Still Need You!
