About Us

What is a Hospice?

The Carpenter Hospice is a dedicated team of caring volunteers and staff.  The Hospice provides individuals who are dying, and their family, with high quality palliative care in a home-like setting meeting their physical, emotional and spiritual needs and making the last days of their lives together peaceful, comfortable and meaningful.

The Hospice is a 10 bedroom, 7,500 square foot home built in a quiet setting in the heart of Burlington.  This home was built entirely from donations from the residents and businesses of Burlington and opened on May 25, 2002.

Professional nursing care and personal support are provided 24 hours a day with companionship, bereavement and spiritual care, offered to our residents in a home-like setting. Our Hospice is open to Burlington residents including their immediate family members and residents of the surrounding area.  Individuals must be in need of hospice care and in the last weeks to months of life.

Since opening, the Carpenter Hospice has served more than 1000 residents who have ranged in age from 21 to 103 years. We support people from our community with all types of terminal illness such as cancer and ALS. Our services now extend beyond residential care to our Wellness Program and Bereavement Support Program.
